Never found it easy to get an appointment

Today, unfortunately, the time scale was poor and I was left not knowing when I was going to be seen. Not the receptionists fault as she was not made aware of why there was a delay. The nurse didn't keep the receptionist informed enough.

Compared to our last surgery in Higham this surgey is far superior with friendly staff and efficient service. Thank you

- when waiting to go into appointments I have 4 times out of 5 visits so far- been left for approx 30-45 mins before being seen. - receptionists seem very busy. There is always a queue or they take phone calls in front of you. While your third in a queue that is already building. One receptionist was very assertive with me and made me feel very uncomfortable (this was when I tried to join the surgery). The rest seem to work at a snails pace and unable to make confident decisions. - there is a very negative message behind reception stating not to blame receptionistist etc. It would be better if this wasn’t a negative message but more positive. I note that they are very busy, and perhaps under resourced but... I can’t help but feel very frustrated by this message and feel that the receptionists give out a very negative vibe. - the surgery building is also dismal. Barred windows and dated signs. - doctor care is good. Appointments are quick but I have always felt listened to.

Looking at these other reviews, I can't believe what I am reading! In my experience the doctors are very good and caring as are all the other medical staff. It's a pity the reception staff didn't show a smile now and again. It all helps when people are feeling poorly.

Moving to the area, there was little choice of GP surgery’s available, my preferred choice was not taking on new patients so I was forced to register with The Cottons. I can’t write about each specific occasion but what I will say is that the reception team severely let down their medical practictioners. How long can you continue to offer a rude, untimely, unskilled reception service and hide behind either your short staffed, your busy, you have new staff in training. All, i am sure are true but that is your issue to resolve not an ongoing reason for customers to have to be faced with an appaling service. If you have a choice, register elsewhere.
